Facilitators: Paul Radunz, Steve Simmons, Dick Beckmen A dictionary notes that the term "erratic" is derived from a Latin word erraticus, which means "wandering." In geology, the term "erratic" refers to stones or boulders that are transported by glaciers some distance from their points of origin and then deposited on the landscape as the glaciers retreat. These rocks have 'wandered' far from home and are strangers in their new land. What affect might these strange rocks have on those who encounter them? The Bible is full of stories where God asks his beloved to become wanderers--Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus all left the homes of their birth to fulfill God's purpose in their lives. And each had dramatic affect on those who encountered them within the certainty of a place they had known all their lives. Come journey with us on our fourth Christos local pilgrimage, Saturday, May 17th. Through visiting a beautiful glacial erratic, contemplative wandering, and shared stories from your guides we will explore unexpected encounters with God. The environment for our pilgrimage will be a few outdoor areas in Rice County. We will provide car pools from Minneapolis and St. Paul and between the locations on the pilgrimage. AWAKE AND AWARE: AN IGNATIAN EXPERIENCE Our Annual Fall Silent Retreat The retreat begins on Friday evening with a two-hour session. Then everyone goes home for a quiet evening. On Saturday we return to spend the day working with four central prayer experiences from the life of Christ and the scriptures. A participant of a previous retreat said, "The retreat offered opportunity for the Holy Spirit to access deep places in me in a way that doesn't happen during the normal pace of life, even during quiet times." Bring a Bible, a journal and a willingness to enter into some significant periods of quiet as we pray together and look for God's presence in our ordinary lives. For those who register in advance, there will be material to use for two days prior to our gathering on Friday. These preparatory readings and reflections can be done in a short period of time. They can be e-mailed or sent by regular mail. Date: September 26-27, 2008 Download a flyer to register janetchristoscenter@msn.com
