This event is designed to support those
in early to middle stage dementia:
families, caregivers, spiritual directors,
clergy and all who are interested in spiritual
care for those impacted by memory loss.

February 6: "I have WHAT?"

This session will focus upon an overview of dementia. What it is, the stages, how it functions, how it is diagnosed. The session will also explore the role of the caregiver.

February 13: Has God Taken A Vacation?

~Where is God in dementia?
~Is God present for the one with dementia?
~Is God present with family and loved ones?
~How do we phrase the question around the issue of spirituality and memory loss?
~Does one need to cognitively be aware of God for God to act?

February 20: Spiritual Care: Walking the Journey of Dementia

This session will relate the "stages" of faith formation to the stages of dementia. What are possible ways to develop and maintain spiritual care as the disease progresses?

Each session will include a presentation by experienced and knowledgeable
people in the field followed by a panel discussion and table discussion groups
that will offer opportunity for participants to share their stories and support
one another. The workshop is designed to bring information but also to allow participants to apply it to their own context.

BECOMING REAL:
Unpacking True~False Self

A retreat providing space and structure to reflect
on your own journey of transformation with God.

A weekend retreat...
March 16 to March 18, 2012
at the Benedictine Center in St. Paul, MN
Led by Lisa Harrell, counselor (LPCC) and spiritual director

During this retreat, we will review how our true self and false self develop, how our identities are shaped by the rhythms of attachment and detachment, and how we move from living out of the isolated self to the integrated, Christ-companioned self. You will be invited to reflect on your own journey, questions, and points of growth and struggle. This directed, silent retreat will include: brief presentations, prayer with scripture & song, and spiritual reflection exercises. Free time will be given for personal reflection, silence, rest and nature walks.
NOTE: Some written materials will be given to each participant to review before the retreat weekend.

Again this year, Christos Center for Spiritual Formation will offer a time to gather together to recount the most profound stories of God' love for humanity. Two of the most significant sets of accounts are told each year during Advent and Lent.

Through the gifts of scripture, imagination, symbols, and music, we will open ourselves to God in prayer.
