Farewell to Donna Scott

It is with both sadness and a sense of loss that we say farewell to Donna Scott as Lead Coordinator of the Tending the Holy program in Chicago. Donna has been working in the Chicago program from its very early days, serving first as a facilitator, then coordinator, and then as Lead Coordinator the past several years. Donna has played a significant role in shaping the TTH program and in promoting ChristosChicago, and has brought her own contemplative heart to the scores of participants that she has helped shepherd through the program. Her commitment to developing community and honest sharing among the learners strengthened the experience for all.

Donna is choosing to return to her professional role as a licensed therapist. The good news is that she has agreed to train and mentor new and existing Coordinators as needed, so Donna’s many years of experience will continue to be a rich resource to all of the Tending the Holy programs!

Thank you, Donna, for your many years of faithful service to Christos! Your prayerful leadership has helped shape scores of spiritual directors who are now listening deeply with others as they seek more of God—a lasting legacy. We are deeply grateful and we pray God’s richest blessings on you as you pursue this change in direction in your professional life! We are grateful!

And now, I have the pleasure of introducing two new coordinators joining the Tending the Holy team!

We welcome Linda Richardson as the new coordinator for our incoming year one class in Chicago. Linda worked for many years as a speech and language pathologist in a local school district. Additionally, she served first as a Deacon at Church of the Savior (Anglican) in Wheaton and then, later, was ordained as a priest, serving the Church as Associate Rector until her retirement in 2017. In 2012 she became a Christos graduate, and provides spiritual direction for several people in the Wheaton area. Last year, Linda served as a facilitator in TTH as well. She will be working alongside Becky Serpe who is now Lead Coordinator in Chicago.

In the Twin Cities Christos program, we also welcome Robin Fraser as the new year one coordinator. Robin comes to us with broad experience. She taught middle school students in Milwaukee, served as Spiritual Direction Ministry Lead at Church of the Open Door, and in 2009 founded and directs WEST/Homeschool Academy, an organization she continues to lead. Robin graduated from Christos TTH program in 2012, and is an active spiritual director, offering both individual and group spiritual direction. She also served as a TTH facilitator 2014-2016. Robin will be working alongside Tamra Koehler, Lead Coordinator in the Twin Cities.

While we are still accepting applications for Tending the Holy until August 1, enrollment for both Chicago and the Twin Cities is looking very encouraging. The Distance Learning Program is also prospering under the watchful eye of Gail Brecht, located in St. Louis, where Distance is on course to have a very full class. Ellen Zaeske has been hard at work for a year introducing and promoting TTH in Fargo ND, and her hard work is paying off. The very first Tending the Holy class in Fargo will open this fall! Well done, Ellen!
