Bonnie Johnson lives in Maple Grove, Minn. and is involved in lay ministry and spiritual direction groups at her home church. She’s a 2009 Tending the Holy Graduate (Twin Cities program) who was also deeply involved in her husband’s ministry, Church of the Open Door.

What impact has your Christos Spiritual Direction training through the Tending the Holy program had on your work, your ministry and/or your relationship with God?

Tending the Holy training came at a time in my life with God’s call to me to go deeper with Him, which meant more than ‘try harder’. Christos’  training of listening – reflection – being facilitated that process and opened up a wealth of resources in readings and experiences outside my religious tradition.

The invitations I walked into at Christos created a hunger for more of the same that I continue to live into, years later. I’ve been blessed with a Spiritual Director for the last 15 years who has walked alongside me in this journey too.

Christos also played an important role in our church.  A Spiritual Direction Group ministry was developed by people of our church who attended the Tending the Holy program and then led groups. I used my training as I facilitated Peer Supervision for the groups’ directors and leaders.
