Exploring Holy and Not-so-Holy Invitations

Invitations are offered moment by moment that draw us to notice the pattern and content of our life journey and reflect upon God’s unique way with us and our perceptions, discernments and responses. Some of the stirrings we experience are those that arise naturally through a human life… the ups and downs, joys and sorrows, decisions and avoidances. Some of them seem to have an added dimension… with more goodness or evil than we recognize as our own.  Roads taken and not taken. Our bodies, minds and souls grow and change and our vantage points shift. We dwell in continuously flowing interior and exterior worlds and learn to ride the currents and watch, wait and respond as we go along. Come, look once again to see what God invites. This is a guided silent retreat. The day will consist of short talks with periods and spaces for silent reflection.

Retreat Guide: Jeannette Bakke is a retired seminary professor, spiritual director, author of Holy Invitations: Exploring Spiritual Direction. She has been part of Christos since its beginning as a volunteer, supporter, and occasional teacher. Every day, in every season and sort of weather, she enjoys the woods and great and small lakes. She listens for love, truth, beauty, God in the midst of life. Favorite authors: C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Dorothy L. Sayers and Madeleine L’Engle whose imaginative and intellectual insights open the way. Singing in a choir nourishes her soul.
